One of my true loves of life is to travel! Ever since I was a child I have been obsessed with traveling. I have the wander lust gene and it's literally all I can think about ever! I am half Croatian so I had the privledge of my Mother's family residing in Croatia, which allowed me to travel there and back many times since I was a baby. It is one of the most beautiful, culturally exquisite countries I have ever been to in my life. I am so honored to have roots there.

My father was infatuated with Sweden when I was growing up and had many friends who lived there, so I was blessed to travel there at a young age as well. I learned to speak both languages when I was little. I can still speak and understand Croatian because I use it often but I only know a couple of words in Swedish now.

Traveling to both of these countries as a young child gave me a wonderful foundation for traveling as a teenager and young adult.

When I was 21 I started traveling alone, whether it was a week to Florida, a trip to South Korea to visit a friend in Pohang or traveling to Europe to visit my cousin in Germany and family in Croatia. When I was 21, I experienced my first backpacking trip in Europe that lasted 2.5 months. It was amazing and life changing!

On that trip I decided that the first thing I would do when I graduated college was to save up enough to backpack for atleast 6 months solo. I ended up traveling for 9 months and it completely changed my world and my view on life. As an only child it was easy for me to be alone and switch cities and countries constantly. I was able to handle the various waves of emotion and uncertainty that come with traveling alone for an extended period. It shaped my character in beautiful ways. On that trip I decided I would buy a one way ticket to Australia and then see where the Universe took me.

I used my travel points to buy that flight and it was one of the smartest things I ever did! I ended up staying in Australia for 3 months and made my way from Melbourne all the way up to Cairns. Then I decided to fly to Bali and stay for 2 months. I also visited the Gili islands in Lombok while there. After Bali I flew to Singapore and stayed there for a couple days and then took the over night bus to Malaysia. I loved Malaysia. I traveled all over Malaysia for 1 month before flying to Chang Mai, Thailand. I spent 1 month in the northern region of Thailand in Chang Mai and Pai before making my way down to Bangkok for a few days to catch a 1 way flight to Amsterdam. I was in South East Asia for 4.5 months and then went to Europe for the last 2.5 months. I cruised through Germany for 1 month and then off to Croatia for 1 month to see my family. After 9 months I was out of money so I had to go home!

I later backpacked Peru, Nicaragua and some countries in Eastern Europe, each for one month on separate trips. I miss being on the road so much!

Right now I am in the mood to reflect because I am at home with my baby boy and nap trapped for the time being. Here is a list of the countries I have been to so far:
