Hummingbird Spirit Animal

Freedom and Perseverance

The sweet hummingbird is one of my favorite spirit animal guides because they always brighten up my day. I enjoy seeing them in my sessions when someone needs their special healing energy. A couple times when I was having a bad day, a hummingbird literally flew right up to my face! It was like Mother Earth was watching over me and letting me know she was hearing my prayers and sent her little messenger bird to give me some extra love and hope that day. It made me feel like, despite the current heavy circumstances, I was still on the right path and the road ahead would lead to something better even if it took long.

When I look up Humming bird spirit animal guide this is what I find:

"Hummingbirds spiritually symbolize joy, resilience, and adaptability. Because they are the only birds that can hover, fly backward, and change directions instantly, they are powerful reminders to live in the present moment, release heavy emotional baggage, and embrace life’s sweetness."

Core Spiritual Meanings:

  • "Joy and Playfulness: Their constant, energetic search for nectar represents finding happiness and sweetness in the little things.

  • Resilience & Strength: Despite their fragile size, they are fierce fighters and capable of migrating thousands of miles. They symbolize inner strength and the ability to overcome adversity.

  • These colourful little creatures encourage you to be open to change. In fact, it would be clever for you to explore new opportunities and not let yourself get trapped in complicated situations by restricting yourself. A new job opportunity? Moving house? A new personal project? With its ability to fly in all directions, the hummingbird symbolises flexibility and freedom, just like the butterfly.

  • Spiritual Messengers: In many Indigenous cultures, these birds are viewed as messengers that carry blessings, good luck, and signs from departed loved ones.

  • Agility & Forgiveness: Their unique ability to fly in all directions encourages you to adapt to new situations with grace, and to let go of the past by "flying backward" to make amends."

    Meaning by Encounter Type:

  • "A visitor in your garden: Often interpreted as a "green light" or a sign that you are on the right path. It can also represent a brief visit from a loved one’s spirit.

  • Hovering near you: Spiritually, this is a call to pay attention to the present. It encourages you to slow down, pause, and appreciate the beauty immediately surrounding you."

I hope that this blog post finds you well and that if you are going through something hard or heavy, you somehow keep your faith and pay attention to the little signs that life gives you like certain animals standing out, or the birds chirping, or the flowers looking more beautiful that day.

Even remembering to take time to write, read, or just simply take time alone to recharge is really helpful. I love going to the sauna or steam room to read a book and sweat out some toxins.

I did a self lead yoga flow today on my patio and it completely changed my whole mood and I felt so much lighter in my physical body after from allowing myself the space and time to get into certain poses and see what emotions came to the surface while I was in them. It felt so healing and also so amazing to get those deep stretches in.

I love yoga because it creates union between mind, body and spirit like nothing else I have ever experienced in my life and it truly helped me to like myself more and feel better in my own skin when I started doing it.

Wishing you health and happiness always,
