These are some of my favorite herbs to support natural pain relief, with out the side effects of pharmaceutical medication. These are great to have in your back pocket when needed:

1. Turmeric / Curcumin

• Strong anti-inflammatory

• Helps with: joint pain, back pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis

• Most effective when combined with black pepper extract (piperine)

2. Ginger Root

• Helps with: menstrual cramps, migraines, muscle soreness

• Works similarly to ibuprofen for period pain in some studies

3. Boswellia (Frankincense Extract)

• Very effective for inflammation

• Helps with: arthritis, back pain, inflammatory pain

4. White Willow Bark

• The “original aspirin” — contains salicin

• Helps with: headaches, joint pain, back pain, and nerve pain

• Avoid only if allergic to aspirin or on blood thinners

5. Devil’s Claw

• Very effective for lower back pain and arthritis

• Stronger than many OTC pain meds for chronic back pain

6. Corydalis

• One of the strongest herbal pain relievers

• Helps with nerve pain, menstrual pain, chronic pain

• Not for pregnancy; can make some people drowsy

7. Arnica (Internal + External)

• External: bruises, sprains, sore muscles

• Internal homeopathic forms are available, but topical gel/cream works best

8. California Poppy

• Gentle pain reliever + relaxant

• Good for: nerve pain, muscle tension, stress-related pain

• Can enhance sleep

9. Valerian Root

• Helps with: tension headaches, muscle tightness, and pacifies the nervous system.

• Strong calming effect

10. Lemon Balm

• calms overactive nerve firing

• reduces muscle tension caused by stress

• helps with pain that feels “tight” or “spasmy”

This makes it especially helpful for:

• headaches

• jaw tension

• neck pain

• stress-related back pain
